Trash the Prom Dress

I hope you're in the mood to look at pictures, because I had the worst time trying to edit these down. Bonnie and Emma Kate did SUCH A GOOD JOB yesterday! They were up for anything and SO MUCH FUN!

I'm starting with these photos that Sandee sent me of Bonnie and Emma Kate when they were little. As you can see, they have been models for a very long time.

And this is them, today.

Now I'm going to tell you just how incredibly hard core I am. This next shot was the among the first of the day. While I was shooting it, the camera pressed against my eye in such a way that made my contact FALL OUT ONTO THE PAVEMENT! WHAT?!! In 15 years of shooting, I have never had this happen. I guess there's a first for everything. But I was freaking out because I'm BLIND without it, and I can't shoot with my right eye (for some reason). I knew if I didn't find it fast, the shoot would be over before it even began. So my superhero side kicked in and I spotted it laying on the pavement. It was almost dried out, (the kiss of death), so I bionically dusted it off and stuck it back into my Wonder Woman eye. I am just hard like that. ...Yes, now I'm blind in my left eye but it was TOTALLY worth it. :0)

We found the best little retro barbershop. The owner was so nice, she let us take over the whole place. Can I just say again how much I love Boerne?

Who said libraries aren't sexy?

Then Sandee, always full of great ideas, found this book which inspired this next one.

Charlie's Angels at the gas station.

And then we found the laundry mat (thanks Melody). This is my favorite shot of the day...(once again Sandee's idea).

And I have been meaning to get this shot for a year. So you can actually SEE Sandee, the woman who helps me SO MUCH behind the camera. Finally I got her in front of it! You can see where Bonnie gets her good looks.

pd18.jpg

As most swimming pools are at noon, the lighting was CRAP. But how else are you supposed to end a hot Texas day?

pd20.jpg

pd17.jpg

Bonnie leaves for college in a month, so I just want to wish you all the best sweetie. This past year flew by and we are certainly going to miss you. May your life be an adventure. May all your wishes come true. And come back to visit often!!

Seniors, if you have a dress that needs trashing, call me!

Also, thank you to everyone who took the time out to wish Melissa well! You all are so sweet! Melissa, I've been thinking about you all day. xo

RADICAL! I have 7 bridesmaid dresses and THEY ALL NEED TRASHING. How much frickin' fun would that be!!! I would LOVE that. And now I totally get what you mean when you were saying "trashing". BEAUTIFUL!!

Oh, I want to do that so bad!

Awww, I want to be a senior again. I love them! My fave is the one of the girls sitting on the washing machines, bw, with their black Converse. I came across letsgettrashed.com the other day. Yours are so much more fun. If you ever want to do a kid series and call it "Trash the Tutu" we're game!

Thanks again for sending all the cups of sugar my way! It made me want to cry how sweet people can be that you don't even know. It really cheered me up everytime I saw a new comment! The funny thing is that I didn't have to go in today. I had a problem with getting the doctor's note to go back to work. OH DARN! You know that it really hurt my feelings to have to stay home an extra day with Landon. I kept kissing him all day and telling him that these were stolen kisses that I wouldn't of been able to get if I had to go to work. So, the doctor finally called and faxed over my doctor's note, so tomorrow I will drag myself into work and hope that the day will fly by! I already have my digital frame set up so I can stare at my little munchkin all day! HA!

I love the prom dress pics! You are truly an amazing artist. I am constantly in AWE! Love you Maile!

P.S. What is the date that you are coming out to see me in August?

I can't thank you enough for the most amazing, hilarious, creative, spontaneous, hard-core FUN day ever! You are such a champ, doing anything to get the perfect shot, from the impressive dry-insertation of a dirty contact lens that had been on the ground of an alley with dead crickets EVERYWHERE...to lying down the the middle of the road, at noon, with traffic. The pictures are gorgeous and we love them, just as we love you. Thanks, friend, for everything, always.

I LOVED these shots and I SP agree that I did not look like that at 18!!! The girls are so beautiful and confident. What a HUGE amount of fun and a great legacy of shots which they will be able to look back on. A time of intense excitement and joy in the promise of life!!
BTW my faves were the last one in the pool and the sexy library shot.

You make everything look like a magazine layout. You should seriously send those to a Seventeen! I love the one where they are in the river. Such beautiful, sweet, good friends...you really captured that.

Thanks everybody! All your comments are so sweet and very much appreciated! Chas, I would love to trash a dress with you any time! And Cindy, if you want to see the color version of the washing machine shot, it's on my portrait site. I updated all the images on the home page slideshow. Mixin' it up a bit! hasta la vista!

These are all awesome shots. It's hard to pick out my favorite. Were the sneakers their idea or yours? It really adds to the personality of the photos.

I found you through Tracey Clark's website and I am so inspired by the two of you. It has really made me decide to really learn photography instead of relying on the auto mode! I love that when you shoot, you can tell how much fun the subject is having. I have a good friend that lives in San Antonio and next time I'm out there, I may have to try to book you for a one on one tutorial. The joy just radiates from your photos. I look forward to your posts everyday!

MBC, the shoes were all Sandee...she is the bomb! :0) I agree, they add a great vibe that would have not been there with heels.

These ROCK! I love everything about this session. SOO fun! Why didn't they do this stuff back when I was in school?! I was probably too much of a sissy anyway. Love the one where they are jumping in the pool.
