Mullin, Texas

These were taken on the wayhome from a big family shoot in Mullin yesterday.Took me 3 hours to get there, and 5 hours to get home. I think I'm starting to love these long alone-with-my-music-and-camera rides.

City hall.

I'd never seen this before,so it stunned me. At first I thought there was some deep meaning behind it. Like other coyotes would be scared off by the site of their buddy strung up on a fence, and run for cover. But when I asked about it, Shirley (the cute mom from yesterday's family) said flatly, "Nope, they're just showin' off!"

Jason was pretty stoked about his dirty car when I got home. He's literally at the car wash right now as I type. Nevermind that my van is disgusting. :)

       Happy Sunday! :)

WOW, you really are in Texas, huh? ;) I love the door in the 13th picture. The one with the squares and the Proud to be an American sign. Also, that fuschia bench is the coolest!

I don't necessarily like cars but I do like a good car photo. That one with the flat tire is absolutely stunning! And the one above it of the volkswagon. Beautiful photos all around.

Maile,
My favorite is the Phillips 66 shot. It's the nostalgia behind it, I think. Makes me miss the old days. I love the way you proofed these, by the way. The vintage stuff is awesome. Did you do that yourself or use an action? AND, if you did use any actions, please share where they came from!!! I WANT them!

Old rusty cars, old broken down buildings. Wow! I love all of these photos! That fuschia bench is the coolest!

I love the old towns in Texas. I always feel a bit sad for them. When I was home in October I drove out to Paradise, TX which is NW of Ft. Worth to visit my great grandparents graves. It is such a little town and you can almost still feel the settlers coming across the prairie to settle it. Small towns also remind me a bit of the movie "The Good Girl".

you should do a series on small towns. I would totally love it!

Am sad about the coyote. :(

Holy moly! These are AWESOME! The downside of living in a big city like Chicago is the lack of long, lonely, winding roads. I really do need to get out more often...That Cowboy Church one made me chuckle. There's so much texture in most of these photos! Love it!

A stunning piece of social documentary. Somehow you can tell so much about people from these pictures, even though there's no-one in sight! Thanks....
