Come play!

What is it? It's the one you almost deleted because everything was technically "wrong"; but for some reason you love it. And it can't be crappy for crap's sake. It has to make your heart happy.

When is it? Here, Tuesdays.

Why is it? Because life happens in bad lighting, with the wrong lenses. And once in a while, we all need to STEP AWAY FROM THE PHOTOSHOP and let imperfections BE.

My shot today is of my dear friend, Rochelle, hugging my sister. This was taken the last time I visited California.

I  met her in junior high, and we hated each other. I have no idea why, but I'm sure it involved a sequence of overly dramatized pre-teen hormones. Luckily, somewhere in our 20's one of us (okay it was her) started calling. And it was weird at first too. Number 1, I'm not a big phone-chit-chatter. Number 2, it was Rochelle...the girl who I thought hated me. But we grew up a little, and I think I even ended up photographing her wedding. Now that I think about it...good lord Rochelle, were the photos half-way decent?! I can't remember anything but dancing to the Macarena!

Anyway, this shot is blurry and obscurred. The lighting is awful. But the way Rochelle is bear-hugging my sister IS SO HER. She's been through everything, and makes everyone feel understood. Even the most guarded people, will end up laughing, or crying...or crying until they laugh. She just has a way of reaching past the bullshit, to find what's really inside. I love that about her. And that's what I see here. My friend, just being her sweet, open, hilarious self.

What about you? Got any shots that have been hanging out on your hard drive because they weren't "perfect" enough? Let us know with a link in the comments. And don't forget to post about why you love it! Yippee!

This is kinda hard, like admitting I'm wrong.

I was so disappointed, and still am, to find out that my camera settings were off at my 4yo's birthday party. Half were bad. Nothing like remembering a milestone through blur.

This is sort of therapeutic.

I had one of these just recently- my husband and I are HUGE fans of the radio DJ's in the morning and we listen to them every day. I know, so sad. We got to be VIP's and go into the studio to see how everything worked and meet them. I only took my 85mm lens and their intern took the photo. It was the only picture anyone took-It came out blury but I still love it and we were so excited we got to meet them!

i lurk here all the time, but i really like your site, so here i am for the innaugural "crap shoot":

http://www.flickr.com/photos/meganmona/2841493235/

this was taken at a cosmic bowling party: blue light with a red strobe circling around and a bunch of boys goofing off. the great "boy expressions" saves it & makes me smile.

I love this blogging idea, and I love your shot! It's all about the emotion isn't it? I wanted to play along, if that's ok. Here's my "crap shoot": http://canadacole.typepad.com/superfluous_fluff/2008/09/perfect-to-me.html

Ooooh fun. I've got millions of these. Here's one of John with a wheelbarrow full of weeds. I like it because I took it the day after we moved into our new house. We were excited to even HAVE weeds because it means we have a yard.

This photo I have never been able to erase. This is of my little boy last Christmas. All I wanted was a cute pic by the tree, but he wasnt having any of it. Although it is blurry, too dark, I just love his little attitude in the pic. http://thegatclanchronicles.blogspot.com/2008/09/crap-shoot-tuesday.html

This was taken on my kids' (twins) first day of dance class. My brown-haired daughter is in the middle, blonde son in the back. The moms were shuttled off to a look through window with only street light trickling down the stairs, and the light of the dance room. Flashes distracted the kids, so this was what I could get. It's terrible . . but I love it. I love that there's elements of motion all around my daughter, but she's standing so straight and proud.

I thought I was going to have to join in next week but I caught this last night. I was trying to get the cute way she accessorizes herself by putting a purse of mine around her neck. She was moving way too fast though and drool, bad lighting and all this picture cracked me up.

This is it for me..... It is so not "technically right", clear, crisp, nothing... but I love it...

I've visted this site several times, but never commented. The funny thing about this crapshoot is that you commented on my flickr about it...but this was a "mistake" shoot. I had my wideangle lense on my camera and zoomed in for some crazy reason while doing a Trash the Dress shoot.
