(sing it with me) California...Knows how to party. In the city...keep it rockin'
Well I'd hoped to post throughout the weekend, but it was too crazy. So now you get the LONG version. I'll try to make the photos smaller. :0)
This is Madeline. We went to high school together, and happened to run into each other at the baggage claim. Very fun surprise.
My one measly (and lame) snap shot of the workshop. I guess I was trying so hard to listen, I forgot to take pictures. I was glad I got one of Shii though. She's a really sweet photographer that I met from Orange County. Totally unpretentious, and easy to hang with. AND she rode in the cab with me at the end of the night. I was kinda freaked to catch one by myself with all that equipment on my shoulder at 10pm, so she took one with me even though her hotel was within walking distance. Thanks Shii! I hope we cross paths again!
Pretty Elizabeth.
I think when I last posted, Kelly and I were headed for Union Square to have coffee with Melissa. Well, I forgot my camera in the car so you can't even see how cute Melissa was in her lime green headband and matching heels. Ever since high school she's always been a little fashionista. AND she is hysterically funny. She had us rolling from the second we sat down. God, I miss her. And I love this blogging thing too. It's a great way to keep up with people you love. (XO Meliss!)
So after that, we headed up to Sonoma County. Kelly and the girls were staying with her sweeter-than-ever in-laws, Mark and Denise. AGAIN, I am so lame and didn't get pictures to show you how cute they are. But basically they are that couple that everyone wants to be after they've been married for a long time. Completely adorable. And I love how every house they live in feels like a bed and breakfast. It was even sweeter after the craziness of the city. Here's the view from the bedroom window.
And one of Boomer. The dog I'm going to kidnap. Seriously. I really, really need him.
This photo cracks me up. He should be wearing a smoking jacket.
One of my cute sister. We were experimenting with flare.
Kelly's cutie pies. Their faces make me want to pinch something.
Rochelle and Vicki have been my friends since junior high. And eachother's friends since kindergarten. I love this shot. It's totally them.
We had a great time at dinner and then went to a coffee bar type place across the street. Great music, though I have no idea who they were.
The next day I caught some shots of Vicki's family and kiddos.
We also went to see my dad. He's a mason, plus an amazing woodworking artist. These are a few shots that don't begin to do it justice. He used to do exact replicas of lighthouses. Lately he's been designing them himself. He calls this one "the lighthouse at the end of the galaxy"...(yes, he loves sci fi). They look like pipes, but it's actually wood. And his attention to detail is mind blowing. He does EVERY LITTLE thing by hand, sautering EACH and every stair, wiring the lights. Even the glass bowls that go over the bulbs are done by slicing down glass test tubes. Pretty cool.
Got to see the old house we lived in for 5 years, which is always fun. So many great memories here. It used to be painted pepto bismol pink though and I wish they'd left it. She had so much personality before.
Then we went for pedicures at the nail salon where I used to work. I got to see Diane, Chantel and Nichole, who made me miss the Steel Magnolias vibe of working in a fun salon. And it made me miss actually getting a REALLY good quality pedicure. If you're in that area, you should totally check them out. It's Nailz and Co. in Cotati.
Amber didn't have hers done, so she's hiding. :0) Thanks again Amberlina for waking up at 4:30 to drive me to the airport after we went to bed around 1:00. I had so much fun every minute. Thank you Californ-I-A!
When I got home, these were waiting for me. It just doesn't get any better.
P.S. Anyone who wrote a poem in the comments of the last entry will have Plan B delivered to them. I gave away my copy in California. Which is just as well since it was water-logged from too much reading in the tub.
Also, I have a million emails and voicemails to return. If you're waiting to hear from me, I promise I'm working my way down the list. I hope to get caught up by tomorrow.
