Booking it.

Remember that book I mentioned a couple weeks ago, Stumbling on Happiness? I just finished it, and it was more like Stumbling On A Textbook With No Conclusion. There were lots or interesting studies about how your brain processes information, but I spent the whole time waiting for the author to get to the Happiness part. I am now well aware that my entire life has been a compilation of stories that I've been painting for myself. That our minds take great liberties with how we sum up our lives. And that when we imagine the future, it's as accurate as daydreaming about an alien invasion. That's what I got out of it. Some of it was eye-opening. However the ending felt like the author got up for a coffee break and never came back to the keyboard. I hate abrupt endings.

Now I'm going to change the subject abruptly.

Getting ready for the 6 hour drive next week and I want to spruce up the iPod. Any songs you can recommend? I want to hear what your favorite road trip tunes are... :0)

I felt the exact same way after 'Stumbling...' I bought it quite a while ago and was SO EXCITED. But, then SO DISAPPOINTED that the book tanked. When you mentioned it again - I thought man, I must have missed something... and I pulled it out. I liked the part about Monkey's NEXTING and then I'm snoozing. Good book: BE by Ping. DO by Ping. and FAITH by Ping. The originator of the Bulletproof Positive attitude... I felt immensely motivated after DO and BE.
Sorry about the long post.
For the iPod, I like KT Tunstall. And who doesn't beebop with Justin Timberlake??

My new favorite albums/groups are Low Stars (very 70's California) and Amy Winehouse (do-wop with attitude). If you download Amy, make sure you get the clean version for the kiddos! :)
