Protect Our Children

I had another post ready to go, but now it will have to wait. For the past hour I've been editing and listening to today's recorded episode of Oprah. Did anyone see it? I won't go into detail, except to say that it was about sexual predators in relation to children. I've watched shows about this before, and the escalations of these crimes is diabolically out of control. At one point I had to pause it just to cry. And I'm 34. Imagine what these babies go through. It is vile. And while I usually like to keep it light around here, I'm making an exception today. Because there is an OCEAN of innocent children out there who are being abused right now. THEY NEED TO BE RESCUED, and we don't have the resources. SO PLEASE GO HERE TO HELP PASS PROTECT THE CHILDREN. It is Senate Bill 1738, and it provides law enforcement with $320 million over the next five years, so that they can more efficiently prosecute these monsters. It is a NON-PARTISAN bill, and you can read more about it here and here. Then PLEASE send your senator an email by following the link above. IT TOOK ME LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES. And if you have a blog, PLEASE TALK ABOUT and LINK to it. It is unconscionable for us to let this continue.

P.S. Please do it before September 26th, because that's when the Senate breaks for recess.

I have this episode tivo'd and haven't watched it yet. But I did send an email to Kay Bailey Hutchison! Thank you Maile for the information. It feels good to make my voice heard and on such an important issue!! Your blog makes me a more informed person :)
