Friday storms and Shelly.
So this morning I made a trip to the Mystic Tanning Death Chamber again, and let me tell you it doesn't get easier. My palms were already sweating as I walked in. Hoping the girl would tell me to grab a magazine, she immediately says, "It's ready, go on back". "WHAT?! I thought I was going to have at least 15 minutes to read US Weekly and self-talk!" So I lock the door, get undressed, and put lotion on FOR SIXTEEN HOURS. Then when there is no more lotion in the state of Texas, I check my application 99 more times. You know, JUST TO MAKE SURE. Finally I find the nerve to get in and stare at The Green Button for FOUR MORE HOURS...all while listening to the annoyingly calm machine lady voice repeating, "DING-DONG. For the 20th time, Welcome to Mystic Tan. When you're ready, hit the green button, so you too can experience simulated chemical warfare". And by now so much time has passed that I'm shaking and can't feel my limbs. I think maybe I've made a mistake. Maybe pale is beautiful. Maybe I'll just go buy bronzer. And right before I jump out, the machine lady says, "Maile, you are not just pale, you are translucent. Plus you just spent a week putting on all that lotion. JUST HIT THE BUTTON WUSS!!" And so I close my eyes and stick my head outside the door to take what feels like my last breath. And then I can't tell you what ever happens next because the rest of the trauma gets repressed.
And it is all SO worth it. :0)
And on that note, I have pictures! Meet Shelly! She's the O'Connor High School Senior Ambassador for Relish. She is as sweet as she is cute. And so is her whole family. I love them all, and feel lucky to have such a great girl out there to REPRESENT. Go girl! :)
Here she is with her equally sweet sister Jeanette! I love sisters. These make me miss mine.
And Jeanette with her cutie pie Mr. Drew. Out of control sweetness.
Thanks you guys! You are all amazing and so fun to work with!
Also, I wanted to send a shout out of love, and prayers and fingers crossed to everyone who is in the pathway of the storm this weekend. I honestly try to avoid a lot of the news for how depressing it usually is. But I decided I should edumacate myself this morning, you know since PEOPLE ARE EVACUATING. And they said this one is already bigger than Katrina. Yikes, I really hope they're wrong. Stay safe everyone! xo

Have a great weekend!!
Hilarious reinactment of your mystic tan experience!! I was just thinking yesterday as I applied my annoying self-tan lotion (that streaks!) how desperately I wish I could just get a easy tan that lasts instead of having to wait on lotion to dry. It IS worth it. Horrid, but worth it!
Shelly is gorgeous and you did an amazing job!
Stay safe and dry.
You crack me up with the spray tan. I had it done once, where someone actually sprays it on you. Embarrassing!
