Best Shot Monday

3-2007 best shot monday ladybug.jpgSometimes true life really is stranger than fiction. I've been on a mission cleaning out the junk in the house. Last week was spent getting rid of toys that have been breeding in the kids' rooms. Of course, we stumbled across the old Halloween costumes, so Annie went through them all. Here is her way-too-small-for-her-now ladybug outfit. The weird part of this story, you ask? As princess ladybug was traipsing all over the house, I noticed an actual ladybug on my counter top! I can count on exactly no hands how many times I've ever found a ladybug in my house! But she happens to find her way in while Annie is dressed up as one??! It was so bizarre. Here it is (that little spot in her hand). Annie was leary at first, but went on to keep her as a pet for the morning. The strangest part was that the ladybug didn't fly away. For hours, it just crawled all over her. Annie said the ladybug came to her because she was a ladybug too. Talk about the law of attraction! I think she's right!

Serendipity, alive and well. It's an excellent shot, & the story just makes it that much better!

We have tons of ladybugs outside in the spring and fall...but rarely in the house. However this winter, we have had one living in our main bathroom - usually hanging out by the window in the shower. None of us have the heart to turn him out in the cold....

Great angle on this shot - and those shoes!! (there's no place like home...there's no place like home)

The stars definitely aligned for that moment. How sweet!

I have many ladybugs (Japanese beetles) in our house and wish that I could lend you a few! :) They were introduced to our area to help with a bug that ate crops and they are like locusts now, I swear. In Asia they wintered in the cliffs together, so now they winter in our homes. Lovely.

Maile, this is the cutest post! Poor Annie still looks a little leary about the whole "real" ladybug-in-her-hand deal in this pic, but I think it's precious how she found it when she was one, too! And the Dorthy/ladybug shoes just top it all off! Thanks for sharing!

Perfect. God, that's a funny shot! Really sweet. It reminds me of a Little Miss Sunshine moment.
