Happy Heart Rock Day!
When my mom was a little girl, she used to go outside in the mornings to check on how the ferns had unfolded overnight. She said the leaves looked like hands and talks about them as if they were friends. She goes through her day and literally finds treasures everywhere. Like the time we were walking through the grocery store parking lot, (at night) and she found a 1/2 carat diamond in the asphalt. I’m not kidding. It was just sitting in the street waiting patiently for her to finally find it. She will light a candle on the table for a grilled cheese sandwich. She writes down things she’s thankful for and puts them into a jar. When we visit, there’s always a point where someone will go through and read each one and we’ll be amazed at how many prayers God has answered over the years. She just has this way of making mundane things magical. So of course it’s no surprise that she can turn rocks into hearts. I don’t know when she started it, but this basket, which is meant for laundry, now houses over a decade’s worth of memories. Each one stands for trips to the coast, anniversaries, gifts from grandchildren...she can tell you the story behind each one. I’ve started my own collection (half of them are from her), and it’s so fun because you always have a secret mission…at the pumpkin patch, the soccer field, the first day of school… The kids love it too, and after a while you’ll have a huge collection. What better day to start than Valentine’s day?
Have a happy one everyone!

I w/o planning began to collect heart rocks when my boys gave one to me a little while back. I wrote about it and posted a photo here (it's at the end of the post):

Since then heart rocks seem to appear to me frequently. We didn't take the one from the creek Sunday...it was her heart...so we left it.
