Lola Parties!
Monday, June 29, 2009 at 09:53PM I still get emails from people asking about the "Lola" girls. You may or may not remember them, but they were a few kitschy paintings I did, of different photogirls. Well, I overwhelmed myself trying to pretend that I had enough time to paint on a regular basis. So once the orders were filled, I removed the button and let them fade out. However, there are still lots of projects that I'm working on behind the scenes, so you might see them return someday in another capacity. Just for now, there's no way I could possibly be changing gears to paint all the time.
SO. Moving on...if you don't remember the story behind "Lola", I'll refresh. "Lola" is a nickname that my sister gave to both of her girls when they were little. It wasn't plotted or planned...just a term of endearment that fell out of the sky like a feather. When I had my girls, I found myself doing the same thing, "Hi Lola, did you sleep well?" "Aw, Lola did you bump your knee?" For me it's not really a name anymore. It's more of a description. And if I had to write it out for Webster, it would look something like this:
Lo-la [loh-luh] -adjective
the description of your favorite girl. Lola is kind and funny. People love her, but she doesn't depend on their approval for her sense of worth. She's daring, smart, and honest. She knows that a big life, is really about little moments. Lola is simply beautiful inside and out.

Miss you! I think that we need to do a girls happy hour sometime soon... since I never got to go before I got pregnant AGAIN :)
